Back handspring stepout

  • Work backhandsprings on a foam floor beam trainer. (A tape line will suffice if a practice beam is not available). The main focus here is to get the gymnast aware of the line and hand placement.
  • A lot of repetition is necessary to build confidence, which is most of this skill if the gymnast can do backhandsprings comfortably on floor.
  • To help transition from floor to high backhandsprings for beam. Backhandspring onto a crashmat, landing in handstand and step down.
